Shine, Shine, Shine

Matthew 5:15–16

"Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house."

Imagine lighting a lamp in a dark room and then immediately covering it with a basket.

It wouldn’t make sense.

The very purpose of the lamp is to bring light into the darkness. Hiding it defeats the reason it was lit in the first place.

Yet Jesus uses this simple picture to challenge His followers. Just as a lamp is meant to shine, the life of a believer is meant to reflect the light of Christ.

Faith was never meant to be hidden.

Jesus goes on to say:

"Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

Living for Christ is not about drawing attention to ourselves. It’s about allowing the transformation God has done in our hearts to be visible through the way we live.

Our kindness, our integrity, our patience, and our love all become reflections of His light.

The goal isn’t recognition.

The goal is that when people see the way we live, they are ultimately pointed back to God.

Let’s reflect.

Are there places in my life where I’ve been tempted to hide my faith instead of letting it shine?

The world does not need hidden lights.

It needs believers who are willing to shine faithfully in everyday life.

Be the salt.
Be the light.
