“For the Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage.”— Psalm 94:14
WAITing can feel lonely.
Especially when you’re trying to honor God and it seems like everyone around you is doing the exact opposite.
You may start wondering:
Am I doing too much?
Am I being unrealistic?
Is this really worth it?
And if the WAITing season lasts longer than you expected, those questions can start to weigh on you.
Loneliness has a way of making us question things we were once sure about.
Sometimes even God.
But Psalm 94:14 gives us a reminder we all need:
The Lord will not forsake His people.
The psalmist didn’t write those words from a comfortable place. He was surrounded by people who mocked God and seemed to get away with it. A few verses later he admits there were moments he felt his foot slipping, and it was God’s steadfast love that held him up (Psalm 94:18–19). If you’ve ever felt that way, you’re in good company.
God has not abandoned you because your relationship ended.
He has not forgotten you because marriage hasn’t happened yet.
He has not left you because you are still WAITing.
And He certainly has not walked away just because you feel lonely.
Feelings are real, but they are not the final word on whether God is with you.
You can feel alone and still be deeply loved by God.
You can feel uncertain and still be held by Him.
You can have questions and still be His.
That is why this season requires trust.
Not trust in some vague process.
Trust in God.
Trust that the One who called you to honor Him has not disappeared because obedience became difficult.
Trust that He is still present when you don’t understand what He is doing.
Trust that your value has not changed because someone chose not to stay.
And trust that choosing abstinence does not mean you are missing out on life.
You are choosing to live in a way that honors Christ.
There may be moments when that choice feels isolating.
There may be moments when you wish someone was beside you.
There may be moments when you question whether staying committed is worth it.
In those moments, remember:
You have not been forsaken.
God did not bring you this far just to abandon you in the middle of your obedience.
He is still with you.
Still faithful.
Still worthy of your trust.
So when WAITing feels lonely, don’t let loneliness convince you that God has left.
Keep praying.
Keep trusting.
Keep honoring Him.
Keep WAITing.
You are not abandoned.
You are His.
