Put It In His Hands

Philippians 4:6–7 says:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts your minds in Christ Jesus.”

In these verses, Paul tells us we should not be anxious about anything—nothing, no thing. He is not saying that we will never have concerns or that the things weighing on us are unimportant. He is teaching us that our concerns should be replaced with confidence in our faithful Father.

Ephesians 3:12 says:

“In Him we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.”

I’ve worked at a company for 26 years, yet I still do not have direct access to the CEO. If I ever needed to meet with him, I would have to schedule an appointment, and even then I would probably end up speaking to someone several levels below him.

But with Jesus, it is the complete opposite.

We have open access. No appointments. No gatekeepers. No layers to push through. We can come boldly and confidently before God. We can pray, trust Him, and believe Him to move in ways beyond what we could ever ask or think.

So with that kind of access, what exactly are we worried about?

We can have confidence that no matter what happens, we are connected to God, and as long as we remain in His will, He will sustain us. Paul tells us to bring our concerns to God with prayer and thanksgiving even before we know the outcome. That thanksgiving is evidence that we trust God’s process more than our own understanding.

One of the strongest ways to fight fear and anxiety is to continually remind yourself:

God is in control.

While preparing for this blog, I came across a few commentators who argued that we should not use that phrase because God allows us free will. Their reasoning was that if humans have free will, then God is not truly in control.

I strongly disagree.

Why? Because my own free will has, at times, made me look foolish. Yet God still stepped in. He intervened. He blocked certain situations from becoming worse. He protected me even when my own choices could have led to greater damage.

If God can override my mistakes to preserve me, then yes—He is in control.

Free will does not diminish His sovereignty. It reveals His grace.

God is greater than our choices, greater than our decisions, and greater than the consequences we deserve. So I will say it again with confidence:

God is in control.

The sovereignty of God means exactly that. The word sovereign describes one with supreme power, unmatched authority, and ultimate rule. When we say that God is sovereign, we are declaring that He is all-knowing, all-powerful, wise, loving, and ruling over all creation.

Jesus reinforces this truth in Matthew 6:25:

“Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.”

Then again in Matthew 10:29–31, Jesus reminds us that not even a sparrow falls without the Father noticing, and that He has counted the very hairs on our heads.

These verses preach one message loud and clear:

You are valuable to God.
You are seen by God.
You are safe in Him.
You have no reason to fear.

Even when the world feels out of control—when evil rises, when chaos seems louder than righteousness, when life feels uncertain—God is still sovereign. His power is not shaken by what happens on earth.

Worry is useless. God’s solution to worry is simple:

Give it all to Him.

Let Jesus take control of your concerns, fears, problems, and burdens. He never sleeps or slumbers, so you can rest. Nothing you face is stronger than the God who carries you.

And because music is my second language, let me go back to a song that shaped my childhood. Our choir used to sing All in His Hands by Varn Michael McKay:

“All in His hands, I put it all in His hands.
All of my burdens, problems—if I have a question—
I put it all, yes, I put it all in His hands.
Whatever the problem, I put it all in His hands.
I know that He can solve them, I put it all in His hands.”

So whatever you are facing today—put it in His hands.

His hands can hold you.
His hands can keep you.
His hands have never failed.

Someone may have forgotten how capable God’s hands are.
