Mission Accomplished
Isaiah 55:10–11
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth… so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty…”
God’s Word accomplishes what it sets out to do.
Period.
Some people don’t like the rain or snow.
Umbrellas.
Boots.
Raincoats.
Heavy jackets.
Then there’s trying to get around in it all. People drive like they’ve never seen rain before… while others drive like the storm doesn’t even exist.
Rain and snow can present a certain level of inconvenience most people could live without.
But despite the inconvenience, rain and snow produce growth because of the water they carry.
That water nourishes the earth.
It causes crops to grow.
Flowers to bloom.
Vegetables to spring forth.
All to sustain us.
Isaiah 55:10–11 paints a beautiful picture.
The same way rain and snow water the earth, the Word of God waters our souls.
As rain saturates the ground, the Word saturates our hearts and minds, producing growth.
Growth in the way we live.
Growth in the way we speak.
Growth in the way we think.
Growth in the way we operate in this world.
Without water, things dry up.
Without the Word, so do we.
Sometimes the Word challenges us.
Sometimes it corrects us.
Sometimes it comforts us.
And sometimes it stretches us in ways that feel uncomfortable.
But just like the earth needs rain, we need the Word.
The Word is producing something.
The beauty of God’s Word is that it never fails in its assignment.
It accomplishes exactly what God intends for it to accomplish.
Every scripture you read.
Every sermon that convicts you.
Every quiet moment with God.
Every verse you hold onto in difficult seasons.
None of it is wasted.
Maybe you don’t see the growth yet.
Maybe the soil of your heart still feels muddy from the process.
But don’t mistake slow growth for no growth.
Keep praying.
Keep allowing the Word to saturate you.
Because what God sends out always has a purpose.
That means when His Word is planted, something is going to grow.
Something is going to change.
Something is going to be accomplished.
Mission accomplished.
