I’ll Take Peace With A Side of Thanksgiving, Please

Philippians 4:6-7
“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Verse 7 is the part we love to quote…
but verse 6 gives us the instruction to receive what verse 7 has to offer.

The instruction?
Don’t worry about anything.

Bills—don’t worry.
Government—don’t worry.
Spouse—don’t worry.
Children—don’t worry.
Job—don’t worry.

That doesn’t mean life won’t present reasons to worry—
it means we’ve been given a better response.

Pray. Petition. Give thanks.

Prayer is how we stay connected—
acknowledging Christ as Savior,
confessing our sins,
thanking Him for what He’s already done,
and lifting others up.

Petition is more specific.
It’s an earnest request—
bringing our exact needs before God.

But here’s the part we sometimes overlook…

Thanksgiving.

Not after the prayer is answered.
Not once things turn around.

Right in the middle of it.

Because thanksgiving shifts our focus
from what’s wrong
to Who is still right.

Have you ever watched a father playfully throw his child into the air?

As an observer, it can feel a little nerve-wracking.
Each toss seems higher than the last.

But the child?
Laughing. Smiling. Completely at peace.

Why?

Because they trust the one who’s holding them.

That kind of peace doesn’t always make sense to the outside world…
but it makes perfect sense to the one who knows
their Father has them.

Isaiah 26:3
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Peace isn’t random.
It’s the result of a posture.

When we choose prayer…
when we bring our needs…
and when we add thanksgiving—

peace shows up and stands guard.

So today, no matter what’s on your plate…

Take peace—
with a side of thanksgiving. 💛

Share this with someone who needs peace today. God is still serving it—with a side of thanksgiving.
