It Ain’t Over

How we expect God to move is rarely how He delivers.

In John chapter 11, Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus that their brother Lazarus was sick. They knew Jesus loved Lazarus. They knew He had the power to heal. So I can only imagine that when they sent the message, they expected Jesus to come quickly and make their brother well.

But Jesus did not come right away.

He stayed where He was not one day, but two days. And during that time, Lazarus died.

To Mary and Martha, it probably looked like Jesus was late. It probably felt like the opportunity had passed. The healing they hoped for did not happen the way they expected. Their brother was gone, and grief had filled the room.

But Jesus was not late.

When Jesus finally arrived, Martha said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

Her words carried faith, but they also carried disappointment. She believed Jesus could have healed him, but what she did not know was that Jesus was about to do something even greater.

Jesus did not just heal Lazarus.

He resurrected him.

What looked final was not final. What looked dead was still subject to the voice of Jesus. What looked impossible was about to become a testimony.

Sometimes we ask God for healing, but He wants to reveal resurrection.
Sometimes we expect Him to prevent the loss, but He shows His power by bringing life out of what we thought was over.

That situation may look dead.
That dream may look buried.
That relationship, calling, hope, or promise may look beyond repair.
But if Jesus is present, death does not get the final word.

Family, it may look like the end, but Jesus holds resurrection power.

He is still the resurrection and the life.

So do not bury your faith just because it did not happen the way you expected. Do not assume God is absent because He did not move on your timeline. His delay does not mean He has denied you. His silence does not mean He has forgotten you.

Jesus can still call life out of dead places.
It may look like the end.
But with Jesus, it ain’t over!
