Obedience Over Excuses

Exodus 4:10

God doesn’t need your excuses; He needs your obedience.

You think you can’t, but God knows what He can do through you. The very thing you think is holding you back may be the very thing Jesus uses to impact His Kingdom.

God doesn’t need any of us, yet He graciously chooses us to participate in His work. What a privilege it is to be chosen by Him!

Think about it. He could use anything or anyone, yet He chooses ordinary people like us.

So if culture doesn’t choose you, Jesus does.

If family doesn’t choose you, Jesus does.

If friends don’t choose you, Jesus does.

If no man, woman, boy, or girl chooses you, Jesus does.

And when you’re chosen by God, you’re on the winning team.

Oftentimes, the skill we think is most impressive isn’t what Jesus uses at all. He often works through our weaknesses so that He gets the glory.

When God called Moses to lead His people, Moses immediately began listing reasons why he wasn’t the right man for the job. He wasn’t a confident speaker. He felt inadequate. He focused on his limitations instead of God’s power.

But God’s response was essentially this:

“Moses, do you think I don’t know what you struggle with? I made you. I know everything about you. Relax. I’m in control, and I’ve got your back.”

What comfort there is in knowing that God isn’t surprised by our weaknesses. He knew every flaw, every fear, and every insecurity before He called us.

Yet even after God’s reassurance, Moses still doubted.

And isn’t that just like us?

The Bible tells us “fear not” over and over again, yet we still fear.

God opens doors that should have remained shut, yet we still doubt.

He heals.

He delivers.

He promotes.

He provides.

Time after time, He proves Himself faithful, yet we still wrestle with fear.

The good news is that God is not looking for perfect people. He’s looking for willing people.

Your excuses don’t disqualify you.

Your weaknesses don’t disqualify you.

Your fears don’t disqualify you.

If God called you, He will equip you.

So stop focusing on what you lack and start trusting the One who lacks nothing.

Choose obedience over excuses.

You may be surprised by what God does on the other side of your “yes.”

God knew Moses stuttered before Moses knew he was called. If God called you, He already factored your weakness into the plan.
