Good. Acceptable. Perfect.

We’ve spent the last few posts walking through Romans 12:2.

First, we talked about what it means to not conform to this world.
Then we leaned into the importance of renewing our minds.

And now… we arrive at the result of both:

“...that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

This is where it all leads.

Because when your mind is renewed…
you don’t just think differently—
you choose differently.

Let me paint a picture.

When I’m in the produce section, there’s something that always catches my attention.

Someone picking up fruit…
turning it over…
inspecting it carefully.

They’re not just grabbing anything.

They’re checking for bruises.
Soft spots.
Anything that might mean it’s not good.

Because no one wants to take something home that looks fine on the outside…
but is spoiled on the inside.

But spiritually?

This is the picture I see when I read this part of Romans 12:2.

This kind of testing isn’t casual.

It’s intentional.
It’s careful.
It’s discerning.

It’s not about sampling everything life offers.

It’s about examining what’s in front of you before you take it in.

We’re not just going through life accepting everything that comes our way.

We’re called to examine:

  • Our choices

  • Our thoughts

  • Our relationships

  • Our opportunities

  • Our influences

Because here’s the truth:

Not everything that looks good is good.
Not everything available is acceptable.
And not everything appealing is God’s will.

And this is important:

We are not testing God’s will to see if it’s good…

We are testing everything else against God’s will.

Because His will is already:

  • Good

  • Acceptable

  • Perfect

The question is never,
“Is God’s will good?”

The real question is:
“Does this align with His will?”

You can’t test properly if your mind hasn’t been renewed.

If we’re still thinking like the world,
we’ll keep choosing like the world.

But when your mind is transformed,
your spiritual senses become sharper.

You start to recognize:

  • What’s off

  • What’s disguised

  • What’s almost right… but not quite God

And that’s where discernment lives.

Before you take it in…
test it.

Before you say yes…
test it.

Before you allow it access to your life…
test it.

Because what you allow into your life
will eventually shape your life.

And God’s will?

It’s already been proven.

It is good.
It is acceptable.
It is perfect.

Don’t conform.
Be transformed.
And learn to discern.
