What is Missing from C-H-C-H? U-R!

Covid changed a lot.

Masks. Vaccines. Social distancing.
Sanctuaries that were once full… suddenly quiet.
Worship that once filled a room… now streamed through a screen.

And while many things have returned to normal, for some believers, gathering hasn’t.

What started as necessary… became convenient.
And what became convenient… slowly became optional.

Without even realizing it, some have drifted from assembling altogether.

Because let me tell you…

There have been days I didn’t feel like going either.
Tired. Drained. Mentally somewhere else.

One particular Sunday, I almost stayed home. I told myself I’d just watch online later. It felt easier.

But I went anyway.

And wouldn’t you know…
that was the very day someone spoke a simple word to me—nothing deep, nothing long—just timely.
It met me right where I was.

I didn’t even realize how much I needed it until I showed up.

That’s the part we can miss.

Sometimes the very place we’re tempted to skip…
is the place God has already prepared to strengthen us.

Now let’s address the real tension.

Some people have stepped away because church has felt draining.
And while that may have been your experience, that’s not what God intended for His people.
May I encourage you not to stop there… but to seek out a place where you can be strengthened, supported, and spiritually poured into.

Some have experienced hurt.

Some have simply gotten used to distance.

And all of that is real.

But even with that reality, the conclusion that gathering isn’t necessary… isn’t supported by Scripture.

Because when we talk about “going to church,” we’re not talking about a building.

We’re talking about the gathering of the saints.

Scripture says:

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”Hebrews 10:25

There’s something deeply intentional in this.

We’re not just called to believe…
we’re called to gather.

Why?

Because something happens in community that cannot be replicated in isolation.

Fellowship.
Real connection—not surface-level, but soul-level.

Encouragement.
The kind that lifts you when your week tried to take you out.

Accountability.
People who help you stay aligned when life tries to pull you off course.

Strength.
Because walking this life alone makes everything heavier than it needs to be.

And here’s what we often overlook…

It’s not just about what you need.

It’s also about what you carry.

There are rooms you walk into where you are the encouragement someone else has been praying for.
Your presence matters more than you think.

A smile.
A word.
A simple, “I’m praying for you.”

God uses those moments.

The Christian life was never designed to be lived alone.

Isolation weakens.
But community strengthens.

When you’re by yourself, the battle can feel overwhelming—
the weight of life, the pull of sin, the heaviness of the world.

But when you surround yourself with other believers, something shifts.

You’re reminded you’re not alone.
You’re reminded God is still working.
You’re reminded to keep going.

So maybe that’s the message in the title:

C-H-C-H is missing U!

Not just your attendance…
but your presence.
Your voice.
Your obedience.

Reflection:
Where have you grown inconsistent… that God may be calling you to return?
Who might be on the other side of your obedience?

You’re not meant to do this walk alone.

If you don’t have a local congregation you attend, ask God to lead you to one.
If you’ve been away, go back this week.

Not out of routine—
but out of understanding:

Don’t let distance become your normal.
Show up. Someone needs what God placed inside of you.

Share this with someone who’s been doing life alone and needs the reminder—they don’t have to.
